Skybus and Ohio
Well, our days of cheap tickets on Skybus have ended since they seized all operations. They blame the weak economy and high fuel costs. I can see how the two can play into the closure, but I don't think those were the only reasons for the collapse. From what I read, it was run by a lot of incompetent people. They picked a CEO based on the name factor over his record. I personally think people in Ohio were really stupid not to take advantage of this airline. Great prices, good destinations, and it was supporting the local economy. I had great experiences with this airline.....I liked flying them a lot. The flight crew were always upbeat with a lot of personality. As you know, I am not a big fan of Ohio....or at least living in Ohio. People put way too much emphasis on Buckeye football then any other issue. It is ridiculous. They had this great start up airline and they did not take advantage of it. The whole Buckeye football thing makes me nuts. It really isolates transplants in the area....and even people that attended other universities. When I turn on the news I want REAL issues on the news, not football first. It should be saved for the end of the news.....during sports or save it for the lame Buckeye specials they have now and then. There are actually people from Ohio that could care less about football too....and even ones that like the Buckeyes, but feel the need to hear real news! Ok, that was me venting about the one thing that really pushes my button about living here. Skybus, sorry to see you leave....it was good while it lasted and you will be missed by our family!
